Save the Date! 2018 IFCSE Conference

The 2018 Iowa Family and Consumer Sciences Educators Conference will be held on Sunday, August 5th- Tuesday, August 7th in Ames, Iowa. Sunday evening will be optional. A conference schedule and registration link will be sent out in the spring of 2018.

President- Courtney Teghtmeyer

Laura has taught for 9 years, and she currently teaches FCS and Health at Waukee High School. Laura has a puppy named Bobbin. Her husband’s dog is named Gatsby (he is an English teacher). Sherry has taught for 30 years and currently fills many roles at Southeast Valley High School including: FCS teacher, FCCLA adviser, NHS adviser, Student Council adviser, and Yearbook adviser. The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at Iowa State University is pleased to invite you and your family to the upcoming FSHN Day on Friday, March 10, 2017. The event will take place in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union on Iowa State University’s campus.

Visit campus to:

-Learn about Food Science and Human Nutrition careers

-Meet current college students and faculty

-Participate in educational activities related to these career fields


There is no cost to attend this day full of activities to explore majors and careers in Culinary Food Science, Food Science, Diet & Exercise, Dietetics, and Nutritional Science.

Financial Literacy Standards


It was recently brought to my attention that the Social Studies standards are being re-evaluated and it is proposed that Financial Literacy will be added to that curriculum. The final recommendation will take place in the spring. If you would like voice your opinion on Financial Literacy being moved to Social Studies standards you can go to the surveymonkey link below or one of the public forums listed below.

IACTE Conference September 29th

The Iowa Association for Career and Technical Education Conference is Thursday, September 29th at the FFA Enrichment Center on the DMACC Campus in Ankeny.
